Having grown up in proper North Kolkata and Bangal Basak family, my childhood was spent witnessing many beautiful rituals which are only archived in pages of history now.
Still remember the early morning hustle-bustle at home, the sudden pain in the stomach which would excuse me from attending school for the day, and thus ensued a day-long festivity.
Times change. The joint family is no more, most family members are scattered all over the city.
Even my Maa does not go around tying hay to door knobs and does not make all the varieties of pithey in this festive season !
But It feel good to part of such heritage culture when One of The Best in Town Aaheli, Authentic Bengali Cuisine Restaurant is hosting
We Munching Monks are privileged to be part of this Grand Festive Start of Bengal when Kolkata is still with the Momentum of Post Xmas and New Year !
